On Friday, September 13, 2024, CADMA AgriSolutions, in partnership with the Volta Regional Office of the Ghana Education Service, hosted a Sensitisation and Awareness Creation Campaign at St. Paul's Senior High School, Denu. The event, attended by approximately 320 students, aimed to transform perceptions about agriculture by presenting it as a prestigious and viable career path while tackling youth unemployment in Africa.
Mr. Elorm Hermann, the Chief Operating Officer and Co-founder of CADMA AgriSolutions, began the event by introducing the organization’s mission to transform Africa's agricultural landscape. He emphasized CADMA's commitment to leveraging technological advancements and educational programs to unlock the continent’s agricultural potential. Mr Hermann highlighted the irony of high youth unemployment rates in Africa despite the abundance of agricultural resources. He encouraged students to view agriculture as a promising career rather than a fallback, citing its dynamic opportunities for innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic growth.
Mr Hermann also addressed the teachers, suggesting they consider farming as a practical source of additional income and a reliable retirement plan. He emphasized that engaging in agriculture could provide a sustainable and rewarding alternative to traditional career paths, helping secure their financial futures.
Following Mr. Hermann’s presentation, Mr. Paul Edem Kuenyefu, an agribusiness advocate, led an interactive session that challenged the students' misconceptions about agriculture. He stressed that agriculture is as honorable as other respected professions like medicine, engineering, and teaching. Mr Kuenyefu elaborated on how modern agriculture encompasses diverse sectors such as agribusiness management, agricultural engineering, biotechnology, and sustainable resource management. He inspired students to reimagine agriculture as a field that integrates science, technology, and business to address global challenges like food security and climate change.
The headmaster, Mr. Emmanuel H. K. Dogodzi, expressed his appreciation for CADMA AgriSolutions' initiative, noting its significant impact on shaping the future of agriculture in Ghana. He encouraged students to see agriculture as a gateway to a promising future for themselves, their communities and the country at large.
The campaign continued with a visit to the school farm, which serves as a living classroom where students gain hands-on agricultural experience. Mr. Francis Giffa Attoesi, the Head of the Agriculture Department and an agribusiness advocate, explained that the farm provides practical learning opportunities for the entire student body. However, he highlighted the need for funding to extend water facilities to the farm to support irrigation, ensuring year-round farming activities and improved crop yields.
CADMA AgriSolutions is committed to transforming African agriculture by fostering innovation, empowering youth, and promoting sustainable farming practices. Through programs like the Agribusiness Awareness Creation Program, Fellowship Program, and Agripreneur Challenge, CADMA equips young agripreneurs with essential resources and opportunities to succeed. With its vision to become a hub for agricultural innovation, akin to Silicon Valley's role in technology, CADMA is reshaping the future of African agriculture by advancing education, innovation, and collaboration across the agribusiness value chain.
